The Executive Director, Oncology Services is responsible and accountable for the overall growth strategy related to the expansion of Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center/University of Miami Hospital and Clinics (Sylvester/UMHC) oncology services in the region. The incumbent in this role should have a keen knowledge of the oncology market and should serve as a key strategist in preparing UMHC/SCCC for the changes in healthcare reform to ensure that UMHC/SCCC is well-positioned to benefit from the changes in healthcare delivery. The Executive Director is an ambassador for the Oncology brand and will stay abreast and offer expertise of the South Florida oncology market analyzing key data, providing business intelligence in order to strategically grow UMHC/SCCC programs and market share initiatives.
Core Job Functions:1. Serves the Sylvester administration team in the development and implementation of a regional Oncology strategy.
2. Analyzes and tracks major developments in the Oncology and healthcare sector, with focus on the regional market and legal/regulatory influences
3. Aids Sylvester administration with decision support through analytics, annual market profile reports and ongoing environmental assessments
4. Identify and develops key market opportunities for community physicians, groups, and healthcare systems to strengthen Sylvester's oncology presence in the region
5. Supports the development and expansion of multi-disciplinary oncology programs throughout the region, in collaboration with the Health System's goals and initiatives
6. Responsible for the integration of Sylvester's oncology services with the community, often developing alternate employment and affiliation models that service the needs of the community while maintaining strict compliance to legal and regulatory guidelines (e.g., HIPPA, Joint Commission, Stark Law, Anti-kickback laws, etc.)
7. Accountable for the success of the Physician Recruitment team, developing a strategic plan for the integration of community physician practices throughout the South Florida region
8. Establishes and implements strategic recommendations for Sylvester and UHealth leadership regarding the development of partnerships, practice acquisitions, and recruitment plans for the South Florida region that supports Sylvester's mission of teaching, reteach, and service using business intelligence: analyzing biographical data, admission trends, market share reports, and demographic profiles
9. Establishes short and long-term strategies in accordance with the needs and goals of the organization for business development and retention; from regional prospecting and contract negotiations to practice transition and integrations
10. Collaborates with Sylvester and UHealth leadership to align-with and support the University's business development and community integration strategy. Establishing goals and objectives for the physician relations program regarding growth, patient expectations and care, communications and policies.
11. Ensures that Sylvester's physician relations program is developed and implemented with efficient processes and ease of access for patients and physicians alike. Assessing existing program needs, establishing priorities and identifying strategies opportunities to minimize referral leakage, acknowledge loyalists, and develop success outreach initiatives
12. Analyzes and reviews referral and market data to identify physician groups and areas for incremental volume growth.Strategizes and develops a plan, with the input of hospital leadership, market intelligence, and faculty leadership, to showcase Sylvester's to targeted community physicians
13. Establishes standards of communication between Sylvester and community physicians to ensure motivating communications and enhancing relationships between Sylvester physicians and referring physicians. Works collaboratively with the Marketing team to develop a comprehensive Community Health and Education plan that integrates key physicians, their practices and service lines to build awareness of services, improves health of community and increases volume and revenue generating opportunities.
14. Coordinates and aligns strategic planning, analysis, and forecasting with capital and operating budgets, plans, and processes
15. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field required

Experience:
Minimum 7 years of relevant experience required
